2 Tracks to Marriage

The plan is in place, now it’s our job to put it in motion. And we’ll need your help.
As we were working on our plans for 2010, we realized pretty quickly that it will have two tracks. Track 1 is focused on electing and re-electing pro-marriage legislators. We need to show that not only will pro-marriage legislators be re-elected, but that it is actually those who vote against marriage that can put them at risk of losing their seat. For Track 1 we’ll need your help re-electing these candidates by making phone calls, knocking on doors and in some cases, making a $5 qualifying contribution for a Clean Elections candidate.
Track 2 is a little different. The goal for Track 2 is to identify the additional 60,000 voters we need to secure a future marriage equality victory. This track has something for everyone. A large part of this is continuing to have conversations on marriage equality with your friends and family, the man in line behind you at the grocery store and the woman at the coffee shop. Identifying 60,000 voters will not be easy. We all need to reach out to people in every city, town, and unorganized territory, in grocery stores, churches and town meetings. It is through personal one-one-one conversations that we will all change the hearts and minds of those who were on the fence about marriage in 2009.
