EqualityMaine Announces New Staff
(Portland, ME) … EqualityMaine, the largest LGBT political organization in the state of Maine announced today the addition of three new members to their staff. Kyle R. Bailey joins as Development Director, Amy Mello as Field Director and Timothy Rose as Communications Director.
Bailey most recently served as Development Director, Chief Operating Officer and then interim Executive Director for National Stonewall Democrats. He has worked in development, operations, communications, and political and legislative affairs for pro-equality and LGBT community-driven organizations, including Georgia Equality, as well as electoral campaigns. He hails from Hiawassee, Georgia in the Blue Ridge Mountains and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2005 with a degree in Political Science.
Mello recently spent several years in Los Angeles serving as statewide Field Director for Equality California. She began working for equal rights for gay and lesbian couples when she joined MassEquality in 2004 and led field efforts to successfully defeat two anti-gay marriage ballot measures in that state. She also served as field director for Love Makes a Family Connecticut in the year prior to their Court decision granting marriage equality. She previously worked for pro-choice organizations, including Washington State NARAL. Originally from Rhode Island, she holds a B.A. from Providence College in Political Science/Women’s Studies.
Rose came to EqualityMaine from MediaInk., LLC where he served as Vice President of Advocacy/Public Policy. He has over twenty years of professional experience in non-profit communications and broadcasting in the Midwest and Washington, D.C. He worked as Director of Media Relations at Fresh Energy, a leading regional public policy organization working on climate change and renewable energy issues. He has been a segment producer and on-air commentator/political analyst for KTCA TV (PBS) in St Paul, MN. During the 1990s, He served as Director of Communications for OUTFRONT Minnesota – a statewide LGBT organization. He holds degrees from the University of Minnesota and the University of California at Berkeley.
